In the history of Sikh religion, Delhi has a special significance. Five of the ten Sikh Gurus visited Delhi. There are many historical Gurdwaras in Delhi. Gurdwara Bangla Sahib is one of the most historical and most visited Gurdwaras in Delhi. It is located near Cannought Place and is dedicated to eighth Sikh Guru, Sri Hari Krishan ji. The water from the pool inside the Gurdwara is considered holy water by the Sikhs.
Gurdwara Sis Ganj is another historical Gurdwara built in 1793 to mark the death of ninth Sikh Guru, Sri Teg Bahadur ji. Located in famous Chandni Chowk, this Gurdwara is a standing memory of all those who gave their lives for the righteous cause of the freedom to choose one’s own religion.
Other famous Gurdwara’s are Rikab Ganj Sahib, Majnu Ka Tilla, Nanak Piao Sahib, Damdama Sahib and Gurdwara Mata Sundari.
